Dear friends,

We thank God for His work in the Church throughout the world and for your particular congregation. We appreciate your friendship. Because of your involvement with and commitment to the Nehemiah Center in the past and present, we are now calling on you to financially partner with us in a special time of need.

As you know, the Nehemiah Center was founded with the book of Nehemiah as its model. We have taught and trained agents of transformation with a biblical worldview who seek to “rebuild the walls” in their personal lives, families, churches, communities, and nation. Last year we honed our vision to focus on healthy churches actively growing in mission that affects all spheres of life. As Nehemiah said in chapter 2:18, the hand of our God has been on us for good, and we are confident that we are going forward in His will for us as an institution.

However, because of several circumstances, we find ourselves in a financial crisis this year. In the context of changing relationships with international partners, unexpected expenses for government-required retirement and severance packages due to structural reorganization, the hiatus of a university program, and a struggling global economy, we have fewer monetary resources entering the institution. Therefore, there is a financial shortfall for the budget this operating year and a very depleted reserve fund.

In this midst of many changes and uncertainties, we have again turned to the book of Nehemiah for direction. We see that after Nehemiah and the Israelites experienced initial success in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, they had to pause because of opposition. In chapter 4 the people resume work on the wall, but they are under threat of attack. Nehemiah leads the people with these words, “The work is great and widely spread, and we are separated on the wall, far from one another. In the place where you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us” (Neh. 4: 19-20 ESV). We trust that from around the globe, spread along the walls of the Kingdom, God will provide people to rally to us at the Nehemiah Center.

Our goal is to raise a minimum of US $30,000 to cover the financial need for this year and replenish the reserve fund. We encourage each church to partner with us in raising at least US $3,000 through offerings, special events, gift-matching grants, etc. Below you will find links to our fundraising campaign package, which includes how to answer the call, fundraising ideas, and Nehemiah Center promotional resources. We also invite you to consider or continue a long-term relationship with the Nehemiah Center. If you are not the correct person to receive correspondence about this, please forward this email to the appropriate contact person(s) and notify us with the correct names and contact information, as well as the role that person has in your congregation.

Thank you for your past involvement with Nicaragua and the vision and work of the Nehemiah Center. We are grateful for your prayers, visits, and financial support in the past, and we challenge you to rise up and answer the trumpet call. Together we are rebuilding the walls in God’s Kingdom, and we know that our God will fight for us against any opposition. As Nehemiah declared after the walls were rebuilt, “the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Neh. 8: 10).

With Joy and Hope in the Lord,

Luz Urania Largaespada
Executive Director, Nehemiah Center
